Thanks Mary. Hope you had a fun Halloween too. What do you do for the holiday?
It was a pretty good Halloween/Samhain/Old New Years Eve here. Dinner turned out really good for once. Not too many little ghoulies at the door to interupt. My kids made it home for dinner and fortunetelling. My son got the lucky coin in his cake. My mom who has Alzheimer's remembered how to play dominoes and rummy and won every game while we listened to old Celtic cds. Now my back aches from all the house cleaning and I am turning all the clocks back and going to sleep. Leave a plate of goodies and a wee drap of the water of life out for any visitors tonight.
Took my daughter to a party at a local bookstore/community meeting space. They had a Neil Gaiman look-a-like contest and she painted tombstone cookies, danced two hours past her bedtime, bowled with pumpkins and competed in a costume contest. She chose to dress as Thomas the Train Engine and learned that "gender-bending" is part of the holiday. hahaha Normally an active, athletic girly-girl, the sight of her long curly hair tucked up under a blue engineer's cap was too cute. Her train imitation was as much Tigger as choo-choo, though. lol
I'm going to make some quiet time to reflect on the year after she goes to sleep tonight, if I can stay awake long enough. smile.
I carved a Jack O' Lantern for the first time in several years. It ended up looking pretty cool. I just had a mellow evening with a couple of friends and watched some episodes of the Addams Family, drank some stout, and ate chocolate ice cream. Was fun.
