If it's the boi of my dreams? That would be at an SCA event. Great Western War maybe and an evening of bad food, great music and stories. I'd like to wear my kilt and chainmail tunic with sporran and short sword, these lace up moccasin type boots. The…

About Me:
Already on here as Galahad, couldn't get signed in so started from the beginning again. Old fart, like to draw and mess around with all kinds of stuff. I am enjoying steampunk machines right now. Writing a steampunk story and learning about all the stuff my hero could invent before I write her story down. It will be something else next month or so, I am like that. A magpie for ideas. If my brain wasn't giving out on me I might be smart. As it is I am forgetting things as fast as I learn them. Like knitting that is unraveling from the bottom (is that possible?probably not) faster than I can knit. I may have early Alzheimers or just the stress from caring for an Alzheimer parent. One and the same thing.

busy day

Since the cello cradle worked out so well and since the dogs kept knocking over the guitar onto the cello, I made the guitar a cradle too. Of course what should have taken a few hours took another trip to the hardware store for the right screws. It is a bit crooked, but didn't want trouble with the neighbors so I quit sawing and just used the file to try and even things up. I really shouldn't try to build things in an apt. Then since the tool cupboard was such a mess and someone dumped the tacks… Continue

private place to vent and etc.

It always feels better when I write about it. Freaking admin.s. After I had tried 4 times to get the monkeys to settle down and get out work and do it, in they walk all the downtowners and our own. I had nothing to do but paperwork and try to get goof off boy next to me to get busy with work. What is really worrying is the admin attitude, they were really smug about it all. Not a good sign. I had one woman park her ass right behind me for 10 minutes. Oh well. Teacher doesn't want me bugging kids… Continue

What are all these people doing? Something more exciting than checking on the activity here I hope. Kid is doing homework and I am not this semester. Sleep, sleep, sleep is all I seem to be capable of doing lately. I like to think of what everyone is doing. Love or business or art, definitely lots of art goes on here, right? I am going to start doing murals again. I want a business. I hate to get involved when health is not so great but that's improving so If I start off slowly, word of mouth, then w… Continue

Equality CA

I got to attend a town hall meeting Friday at the University of Redlands. Equality CA and the local coalition speakers were fantastic. It was so amazing, there were at least a hundred butch types in attendance. So many gorgeous people I was in shock. I didn't think that many queerfolk would show up or were even in the area.
I went to the Inland Empire blog for ECA and there was an entry. About 500 people showed up. With all those handsome and beautiful faces there, you would think someone could… Continue

circus class

Not really a bad day at work but I really screwed it up at the last. 6th period and the second day of substitutes and of course the jackasses wouldn't listen to the rest of the Odyssey. I sent three next door to the teaching partner and they thought they were going to be suspended so they were a little scared. It didn't help much though and 2 miutes later when I sent Lucy out the creep we just got from jh went stupider than usual, throwing signs, clowning around, and since I had warned him at leas… Continue

Hey,

I'm trying to find out how Butch on Butch members like to take part in this group. Please take a few seconds to vote in a poll on my website about how you like (or would like) to interact with other Butch on Butch members. The poll is at http://kathrynrsmith.com/BonBpoll.html and literally takes a few seconds. Send me a message or comment to my forum post with any questions or comments. Thanks for voting!

Yeah, I'm only working with Jen, the Z-Health (R phase) DVD and an accompanying training manual. The Z stuff is easy enough to learn without a coach initially. I'd recommend you start there to get your shoulder on the fast track to getting repaired. I had to do Z for 2 or 3 weeks before I could lift, then I was good to go. Soon I'll add some DVDs and books from Dragon Door Publishing (Gold Standard in the Kettlebell community) and, hopefully, my own Kettlebells. Right now I'm making do with dumbbells but their so inferior. I inquired at http://www.dragondoor.com/rkc/ when I first hired Jen and, at that time, the leading woman in the RKC organization, Andrea DuCane, sent me a list of helpful beginning tools and amongst them were the Kettlebell Goddess Workout DVD and From Russia with Tough Love (book). Just curious because I believe there are less than 2000 RKCs in the whole world, I looked up the SB zip codes and you're in luck, there are several RKCs near San Bernardino. I wouldn't let cost be an obstacle to training. There are BYOKB classes for free monthly in most cities that have RKCs. There are trainers willing to do sliding scale, let you mow their lawns or paint their homes. lol If you want to be at your peak performance and have the strength of 5-10 men, don't hesitate to get creative with whoever is in your area. Right now my coach is letting me train for what I can afford. She's incredible.

Actually, Kettlebells are renowned for their ability to rehab shoulders, knees, hips and backs and have helped injured athletes (and moms, lol) recover, repair and exceed pre-injury limitations. I have heard several stories of injured power lifters that rehabbed the damage to their shoulders successfully including torn rotator cuffs.

The style of lifting that I'm training in places a large emphasis on having an RKC certified trainer coach you in how to use these tools effectively and SAFELY. I didn't just run out and buy a DVD and try it on my own. Damage to my right shoulder was so bad before I began that I couldn't raise my arm above my head or pour a cup of coffee. Now I can lift a 12kg (26 lb) kettlebell above my head in a military press. The other school of performance enhancement and physical rehab I've greatly benefited from is Z-Health which was designed by Dr. Eric Cobb, a chiropractor. I believe from my experience with Z that it's going to revolutionize injury repair. http://www.zhealth.net/zhealth-pain-relief I suffered in agony that prescription pain meds wouldn't touch for 4 years. Since I hired my movement coach/personal trainer, Jen Waak of www.movefitfun.com, who is both Z-Health and RKC certified, I have experienced options that none of my doctors and pt folk could give me. After only 3 - 15 minute sessions of Z-Health maneuvers with Jen, I have been pain free for 4 months.

If you're interested in locating a Z-Health or RKC coach near you, I can email you the links to their instructor search engines. But whatever you choose, please consult your physician before undertaking any new form of exercise. I did and got clearances that reassured me before I began.

[Note: I'm not compensated in any way for promoting these sites, I am simply relieved to be strong again and to not suffer needlessly the way I did several years previously.]
